All regulations and the exact procedure of the security control for passengers are described in a new information booklet, which has been produced by the Austrian Airports Working Group (AÖV). This clarifies the current regulation on the carrying of liquids as well as the regulations on the transportation of permitted or dangerous objects. For more detailed information, click on the right page. To save you time and to enable you to reach your flight as quickly as possible, the following tips will make it easier for you to pass through security control:
Please remove the following items:
Head wear
Scarves, shawls
Outer clothing (e.g.: jackets, sports jackets, blazers, coats, waist coats)
Belts if instructed by the security agent
All objects carried in pockets
Watches and jewellery if instructed by the security agent
Please show the following items to the security agent separately:
All liquids (see regulation on liquids)
electronic items
boarding cards
Passengers or airport staff who set off the alarm when passing through the metal detector gates, or who must be searched in compliance with the legally required minimum control quota, will be searched in accordance with a specified procedure.
Checks must be made that no prohibited objects are taken into the so-called security zone of the airport. The reason why the alarm was set off must also be checked.
If the area of alarm is localised by our technical devices to the intimate areas (and/or womens breast area), a further control will be carried out in private in one of our search cabins.
If a prohibited object is found during a search or by the luggage X-ray, we offer various options. Our Duty Officer can provide services to you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, on an individual and personalised basis.
For further information, please visit our service page.
If you need medicinal products, such as insulin, eye drops, nose drops, medication for coughs or colds, and/or cold packs for storage of medication, during your flight, then these are excluded from the prohibition. In order to make your and your childrens stay at the airport as pleasant as possible, we ask you to observe the following points when passing through security control.- Children must be removed from pushchairs or carry aids, e.g. baby carriers, carry straps, etc. before the security control
- Pushchairs and carry aids must go through a separate security control. This involves the same control measures as those that apply your hand luggage. All objects are subjected to an X-ray check.
We request that you remove any components, e.g. wheels, parasol, etc. if you are asked to do so by our security control staff. We ask for your understanding that no components may be removed by the security control staff, but that this must be done by yourself as the owner. Of course, we are here to help you through the entire control process.- Please note that children too will need to undergo a security control.
Liquids In order to provide the greatest level of care for your children throughout the whole journey, you are of course allowed to take liquids on board which you need to care for your children. These include, for example, the following liquids and objects: - creams
- lotions
- baby food
- special water
- boiled water
- pudding for children
- juice for children
- medicinal products in the required amount
- etc.
